Asked Questions |
What does MobileFrame do?
MobileFrame is a software development company that has designed the
first truly configurable mobile applications that enable customers to
dynamically create and manage their own business-process workflow through a
simple GUI. Our solutions require no programming, enabling an end-user
to rapidly configure and deploy applications to its mobile workforce. Once the
application is deployed, required changes can also be deployed on-the-fly with
no programming involved.
|
What makes MobileFrame unique?
Our products are unique because business users can configure their
mobile applications without involving IT staff, which enables companies to
easily create a range of mobile solutions such as site inspections, order
processing, time tracking, and asset management. The end result is dramatically
reduced costs and improved efficiencies.
|
What data collection types do you support?
The MobileFrame ClientTM collects a wide variety of data
including photographs, sound, graphics, bar code scans, GPS locations and
digital signatures. These are automatically incorporated into the workflow and
transmitted to the home office as a unified package. This eliminates the need
for your office staff to manually associate photographs and sketches with a
particular project.
|
What happens if my mobile workers are out of a coverage area?
Our solutions wirelessly enable your business processes and workflow in
a thick client mode so that your mobile workers' software applications
are always available, are more efficient, and can provide service that your
competitors can't match. With local storage of data and business rules, the
MobileFrame ClientTM can operate with or without a persistent
network connection, enabling workers to be continuously productive.
|
What Operating System(s) does your software run on?
All MobileFrame software products run on Microsoft operating systems -- Windows
XP Professional; Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows Pocket PC 2000 & 2003,
Windows Mobile, Windows XP Tablet PC et al.
|
What protocols and standards do you use?
All MobileFrame Software Suites are built on the latest .NET, IIS, Web
Services and database connectivity standards. They run on any TCP/IP network
using HTTP or HTTPS. The components of our system incorporate XML and
SOAP/WSDL. All MobileFrame Software Suite components work with existing
servers, networks, and applications to leverage the performance, scalability,
and reliability of proven system software from Microsoft, Oracle and other
software providers for the Windows operating systems.
The MobileFrame products share their database technologies and client
technologies. The MobileFrame Client is built on the latest .NET technology
running on PocketPC. It communicates with the MobileFrame Web ServiceTM across
standard TCP/IP networks whether they be LAN (Cradle or 802.11 Wireless) or WAN
(GPRS, VPN, CDPD).
|
What network does your software require?
We support any type of wireless or wired TCP/IP network. We can operate
seamlessly over a variety of networks including Ethernet (802.3 or 802.11) LAN;
CDMA, CDPD, GSM/GPRS, or iDEN WAN; or 56KB modem.
|
We use XYZ as one of our backend systems. How would you integrate into
that?
Our flexible architecture allows customers to easily integrate the
MobileFrame Software Suites with their other enterprise applications and
backend systems, which will ensure that the mobile workforce has the right data
at the right time to be fully effective while in the field. In most cases, our
server workflow can be used to integrate to other backend systems via our point
and click authoring. In cases where the requirements are more robust, we
provide additional connection tools that leverage XML and other standards to
integrate to other systems. This approach allows us to easily integrate
in CRM, ERP, SCM, Finance, Scheduling and other legacy systems.
|
What is required if I need to make changes to the mobile workers'
assignments?
The MobileFrame DesktopTM is an intuitive, GUI based application
designed for the business user to easily make
changes on the fly within minutes, all with no programming required.
You will not need to rely on a highly paid programmer to write custom code to
make the changes for you.
|
Who are your competitors?
Because customers have not been able to find a pre-built solution that is as
flexible as the MobileFrame solution, we find that customers are either
building custom applications in house, or hiring vendors to develop custom
applications for them. As you know, custom development is an expensive, lengthy
process and custom applications are cost prohibitive to maintain over time.
MobileFrame offers the only flexible, standards-based enterprise mobile
solution that can be deployed and maintained without the assistance of
professional IT staff.
|
What if I have many different types of devices in the field? For example,
we have a variety of Microsoft .Net devices such as PDAs, tablets and laptops .
Would my IT department have to get involved to make the information render
appropriately on the different screen sizes?
No, your IT department does not need to get involved to make this happen. The
MobileFrame system automatically handles the presentation on the screens using
intelligent rendering based on the connected device type, platform, and
regional settings.
|
How are you different from the wide variety of middleware providers?
Middleware providers do not operate at the customer facing front-end; they are
software tool kits for highly trained IT staff. MobileFrame provides a
configurable front-end application that leverages middleware such as
application servers, mobile gateways, and EAI products to provide end user
functionality and access to backend systems.
